Week 14 in review: OnePlus 8, 8 Pro, 8 Lite rumors, iPhone SE 2020 coming
As another week draws to a close it’s time to look back at the most popular stories of the past seven days. The OnePlus 8 series made the most headlines by far.
We saw the new colors of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro in official-looking renders. The new phones will come in (Ultramarine) Blue, new minty green (Glacial Green), (Onyx) Black and, going by the palette of the upcoming Bullets Wireless headphones, possibly Gold.
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro were tested by DisplayMate and were awarded an A+. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau teased that the OnePlus 8 Pro broke 13 DisplayMate records. We’ll have to wait for the pair of phones to become official before we see the test findings themselves.
The main camera of the OnePlus 8 Pro will be a Sony IMX689 – that’s the 48MP sensor, found in the Oppo Find X2 Pro. The OnePlus 8 series will cost less than $1,000 when they become official on April 14, although European pricing might be well above that threshold.
The other big topic of the week was the iPhone 9. After numerous delays, Apple could finally unveil its cheaper new iPhone on April 15.
It also turned out the iPhone 9 will likely be called the iPhone SE 2020 instead.
We shared an exclusive image of the Honor 30’s camera array, proving that it will indeed premiere the Sony IMX700 sensor. It’s a 50MP sensor that will be Sony’s largest and we’re expecting it to match the Huawei P40 Pro’s 50MP main sensor in size.
Speaking of the Huawei P40 Pro and its main camera – it topped DxoMark’s chart for both photo and video quality.
In other Huawei P40 Pro news – the latest report surrounding its display supplier pointed to Samsung as the sole OLED maker for the P40 Pro+, Samsung, BOE and LG Display as suppliers for the P40 Pro and BOE as the sole supplier of the P40 display.
