Steve Jobs Awarded Posthumous Presidential Medal Of Freedom

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs will receive a posthumous Medal of Freedom, according to an announcement by The White House.
Jobs died in 2011.
In a list of other Medal of Freedom winners on The White House website, Jobs is recognized for his roles at Apple, Pixar, and Disney and his work “transforming the computer, music, film and wireless industries.”
Steve Jobs (d. 2011) was the co-founder, chief executive, and chair of Apple, Inc., CEO of Pixar and held a leading role at the Walt Disney Company. His vision, imagination and creativity led to inventions that have, and continue to, change the way the world communicates, as well as transforming the computer, music, film and wireless industries.
Jobs was instrumental in the relaunch of Apple in the late 1990s and turned the company into the giant that it is today.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest civilian honor available to people in the United States, and is awarded to those who have made “exemplary contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other significant societal, public or private endeavors.”
The other winners include John McCain, Megan Raponie, Denzel Washington, and Diane Nash. You can read the full list of names, and why they have been given their award, on the official website.
