Samsung Teases 5 New Devices Ahead of Its Unpacked Event

Samsung will introduce five new mobile products at next month’s “Galaxy Unpacked” event.

The company teased its so-called “power devices” in a blog post on Monday from Samsung Electronics President TM Roh, who leads the mobile division. Expect the products to be used by your hands, worn on your wrist, or sit in your ears, he said.

“These devices deliver on our vision to be the innovator of new mobile experiences that flow seamlessly and continuously wherever we go,” he added.

You can probably guess the five devices, especially since the product renderings have already been leaking on the internet. We expect the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Fold 2, Galaxy Z Flip 5G, a new smartwatch and finally, Samsung’s bean-shaped wireless earbuds. But who knows? Maybe the company will surprise us.

In his blog post, Roh said one of his priorities in leading Samsung’s mobile division is creating “bold and forward-leaning” products. “Instead of playing it safe, we take risks and move fast. Instead of waiting for others, we set the direction for the rest of the industry,” he wrote.

The company certainly took a major risk last year with the Galaxy Fold, a $1,980 product that ended up getting delayed after review units kept breaking. In the end, reviews for the foldable phone were fairly mediocre. But according to Roh, it’s time for Samsung to double down on even bolder innovations, citing COVID-19, and how everyone’s lives have changed during the pandemic.

“We’ll make mobile technology that’s more personal, intelligent, useful, and secure,” he wrote. “We’ll develop more ground-breaking products, like our industry-leading foldable phones. And as we roll out a wide range of Galaxy 5G devices in more markets, this technology will enable so many experiences we can’t even imagine yet.”

“From foldables to 5G, we have a tremendous amount in the pipeline, with some ready to be shown just around the corner,” he added.

Samsung will live stream the Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 10 a.m. EST via Samsung.com.
