Redmi Note 9 and global Note 9 Pro announced
After debuting in India last month, the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max were followed by the Redmi Note 9S which is the global variant of the 9 Pro. Now, the company announced its all-new vanilla Redmi Note 9 as well as the global version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, which is called Redmi Note 9 Pro. Yes, it’s properly confusing, but that’s that’s Xiaomi naming for you.
Redmi Note 9
The third entry to the Redmi Note 9 line brings a 6.53-inch IPS display with FHD+ resolution and a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner for the 13MP selfie cam. Around the back, we have the same 48MP Samsung GM1 main sensor as the Redmi Note 9S alongside an 8MP ultrawide and two 2MP shooters one for macro stills and another for depth data. The fingerprint scanner sits below the cameras.
Under the hood, however, sits the all-new MediaTek Helio G85 chipset. It boasts an octa-core CPU and the Mali-G52 GPU and slides right between the companys Helio G80 and Helio G90T SoCs. The Redmi Note 9 can be had with either 3/4GB RAM and 64/128GB storage. It boasts a 5,020 mAh battery with 18W fast wired charging. The phone will ship with Android 10. It also brings an IR blaster, headphone jack and NFC.
Pricing for the new Redmi Note 9 starts at $199/183 for the 3/64GB model, theres also a 4/128GB for $249/230. The phone will be available in green, grey and white colors. Sales are scheduled to tip-off later this month.
Redmi Note 9 Pro (global)
The international Redmi Note 9 Pro is actually identical to what Indian customers know as Note 9 Pro Max. This means a 6.67 FHD+ IPS display, four rear cameras with a 64M main shooter and the Snapdragon 720G chipset. The design on the green colorway has been slightly tweaked with a new two-tone finish and a slightly altered camera placement. The fingerprint sensor remains on the right-hand-side.
The phone will be offered in 6/64GB and 6/128GB trims. It comes in green, white and grey colors. The starting price for the 6/64GB trim is $269/247 while the 6/128GB one will go for $299/275. Sales kick off later this month.
