Oppo Find X2 arrives with 120Hz screen and 5G, X2 Pro adds a periscope camera

After a small delay following the MWC cancellation, Oppo Find X2 and Oppo Find X2 Pro are finally official. The duo brings impressive 120Hz screens, Snapdragon 865 chipsets with 5G modems and the fastest charging on the market, with the Pro adding a hugely impressive camera setup to the mix.

The two phones share the same 10bit 6.7” AMOLED panel of QHD+ resolution that with 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with 240Hz touch sampling to minimize input lag and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Unsurprisingly, they also both come with ColorOS 7.1, based on Android 10.

The Snapdragon 865 is coupled with 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage, but you get no memory card slot.

Oppo equipped the Find X2 with a triple shooter on the back, headlined by the new 48MP 1/43″ Sony IMX586 sensor with F/1.7 lens. It not only has the largest pixels of any Quad-Bayer sensor to date (1.12µm), but also Sony’s new 2×2 OCL tech for focusing performance that should outdo even Dual Pixel sensors.

Then there’s 12MP ultrawide angle unit, which Oppo refers to an ultrawide angle video camera. It has a Sony IMX708 sensor (1.4μm pixel size, 16:9 aspect ratio) behind an F/2.2 6P lens. The aspect matches that of the recorded videos, which allows for better performance of the stabilization dubbed Ultra Steady Video Pro.

Finally there’s a 13MP telephoto cam with 5x hybrid zoom. It’s unclear how much of that is achieved through optical magnification but it’s likely in the 2x-3x range. All cameras support Ultra Night Mode.

The Find X2 loses the bold slider design of the Find X so its front snapper is nested inside a punch hole on the screen. It has a 32MP Sony IMX616 quad-Bayer sensor and f/2.4 aperture.

The Find X2 has a 4,200 mAh power cell that supports 65W Super VOOC 2.0 Flash Charge. Other connectivity specs include all the Wi-Fi options and Bluetooth 5.1, but there isn’t a 3.5 mm audio jack.

The Find X2 arrives in two different finishes – Ocean Glass and Black Ceramic. The first one adds a water-like ripple pattern under the panel of what is otherwise a standard glass sandwich. The other has a smooth ceramic finish on one part of the back and textured ceramic on the other for a rather cool final result.

Oppo Find X2 Pro

The Find X2 Pro is the flagship proper, coming with even more capable camera setup, 512GB UFS storage (RAM is again 12GB) and two exclusive finishes of its own.

The main 48MP sensor is shared with the regular Find X2, but the Pro’s ultrawide shooter employs a 48MP Sony IMX586 1/2″ Quad-Bayer sensor behind an f/2.2. Not only is this one of the largest sensors behind an ultrawide camera but it also offers autofocus and macro mode from 3cm.

The 13MP telephoto camera has 1/3.4″ sensor behind F/3.0 periscope lens that offer 5x optical magnifaction, 10x hybrid zoom and up to 60x digital zoom. This is the second generation Oppo periscope camera after the Oppo Reno 10x zoom last year.

The selfie shooter is the same as the Find X2 – 32 MP camera with f/2.4 aperture and 5P lens.

Oppo managed to cram slightly bigger battery inside the Find X2 Pro – 4,260 mAh, still supporting the 65W Super VOOC 2.0 Flash Charge technology.

Two more features exclusive to the Pro version are IP68 water and dust resistance (X2 only achieves IP54) and a special X-axis motor for superior haptic feedback.

Oppo Find X2 Pro will come in Vegan Leather Orange, which a unique soft-touch material that rather successfully mimics real leather, and Black Ceramic finishes. Unlike the regular X2, this one has two different textures, omitting the smooth part.
