MSI Responds to Coronavirus With Extended Warranties
The reaction to coronavirus from most tech companies so far has been to ask employees to work from home, but MSI has been thinking about its customers and decided the best way to support them is with extended warranties.
MSI describes coronavirus as having, “taken the world by surprise with its infectiousness.” In response, the company wants to ensure any customers who have MSI products about to come out of warranty “don’t have to worry about anything other than their health and safety.” With that in mind, a two-month warranty extension is being offered on a limited basis.
In order to qualify for the automatic extension there’s a few prerequisites. Firstly, you need to be enrolled on the MSI Rewards Program, which would most likely have been signed up to when a product was purchased. The MSI product owned must also have a warranty that’s due to lapse/expire before the end of March.
The products covered under this warranty extension offer include MSI’s desktop computers, all-in-one computers, motherboards, monitors, and PC cases. You’ll notice laptops are not on the list for some reason. The offer is also limited to the following 20 countries, which MSI believes have been “most affected” by the virus: South Korea, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, Spain, USA, Switzerland, Singapore, UK, Hong Kong, Sweden, Norway, Netherlands, Australia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, Belgium, and Canada.
You may notice China is missing from that list, but MSI explains that’s simply because customers in China are already signed up to an independent extended warranty program, so aren’t eligible for this promotion.
