Microsoft has slowly moved the Xbox to be a more digital-focused games console, now it’s becoming easier to tell if a game you have installed is from disc, a digital purchase, or a subscription.

The Xbox June 2020 Update has just been released, and the biggest visual change it brings is overlays for game tiles. Any game tile located in My Games & Apps, Home, and Guide, now includes an overlay making it clear what type of game it is. For example, if the game arrived on your Xbox via Xbox Game Pass, then a “GAME PASS” overlay will be visible in the bottom left corner of the tile for that game. Microsoft says it’s making it easy to tell if your game came via Xbox Live Gold or EA Access, too.

Other changes include adding a badge next to Gamertags on the Home and Guide pages if you have an active Xbox Game Pass or Xbox Live Gold membership. Microsoft sees it as a way of “celebrating your membership.” Official clubs, which are clubs created and managed by game developers, will now have verification badges to make it clear to gamers they are accessing information from an official source and not a fan-based club instead.

Finally, Microsoft decided that when someone first joins Xbox Game Pass it can be difficult for them to locate the subscription content they have access to. With that in mind, the Game Pass content block has been relocated to the top of the Xbox One dashboard so it’s the first collection of content seen.
